The International Maritime Organisation's ISPS
Code has introduced new maritime regulations to protect ports and
international shipping against terrorism, by improving early detection and monitoring
of potential threats.
All ships over 500 gross tones are required to be equipped with a Ship Security Alert System (SSAS),
which is capable of discreetly raising the alarm to the relevant
authorities and tracking the vessel if the security of the vessel is
compromised.Mobilkom announced its new maritime SSAS&Track service.
SSAS&Track allows users to remotely configure their exiting SSAS units,
controls the communication from the units and also enables users to
visualize the location of their vessels on detailed electronic maps. Users
can poll their vessel, receive and send messages to their vessels based on
their needs. Positions received also contain detailed information such as
heading and speed as well as the latitude, longitude and alert information.
This advanced maritime system also includes up-to-date weather
information as well as weather forecasts. Warnings issued by the World
Meteorological Organization WMO are also available with the Standard
system.
If your vessels are equipped with Inmarsat C or D+ equipment, no
extra device is required to use the Maritrack system.
If you are still looking for a SSAS equipment, make sure
you review our SSAS portfolio of products.
